Is My Cat Grieving?

Is My Cat Grieving?

Dear Spirit Essences,

I'm looking for some advice. I have an 11 year old cat and his long time friend and littermate just passed away about 2 weeks ago.

Since then Lover has since been overeating and has gotten very, very clingy.  If I leave for even 10 minutes, as soon as I walk back in the house he wants to be in my lap and petted. This isn't a problem but worries me because it's a behavior we've never seen before. He's even lost all interest in play.

Any suggestions for helping him ?

Hi Alexia,

We're deeply sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved cat.

It sounds like Lover is grieving just as you are. Here’s a video on cats and grief, it may give you some tips on how to help Lover get through this.

You may want to take a look at Loss Solution for Lover. This formula is designed for the animal who is mourning or having difficulty accepting the loss of a mate/companion by helping them to release the past and move forward. Remember, as with humans it does take time for cats to recover from losing a member of the family.

Loss Solution is made with a variety of essences that can help an animal get through this difficult time, like the essence of Borage. It helps when we need the courage and optimism to move through obstacles even when life feels heavy and overburdened. The Borage essence in our formula comes from Terra Flora, a wildflower preserve and garden sanctuary in the foothills of California's Sierra Nevada mountains.

Our thoughts are with you and Lover!
